Russian President Vladimir Putin:
- I am extremely pleased to be with you and to have the opportunity to congratulate GAZ on the jubilee. Congratulations on the 85-th anniversary of the establishment of our legendary GAZ. When decisions are taken on the placement of such industrial giants, many factors are taken into account. The most critical issue is about the people who will be working there. The decision taken at that time was right decision - to locate such a gigantic automobile plant on the banks of the great Russian River Volga. Talented, patriotic and energetic people are living and working here. Your predecessors have proven this over the centuries with their work and attitude to the Motherland. Facts are known from the history when Nizhny Novgorod was the place where the people’s army was created that liberated Moscow from the invaders putting an end to the time of troubles. It was after this when a single centralized powerful Russian State started its rapid development. It was here where the victory to a great degree was forged during the Great Patriotic War. We all remember the famous "one-and-a-half tonners", Pobeda cars, but today GAZ is still actively developing. It has become not only a part of the automobile industry, our economy, but it also is an integral part of the global automotive industry. Nizhny Novgorod will develop alongside with GAZ. With your active involvement, with participation of such people like you, we will solve any problems, even the most complicated ones that are confronting us. Russia will go only forward, and nobody and never will be able to stop Russia on this way. Congratulations on your holiday!
